Starring Mickey Rooney, Peter Lorre, Jeanne Cagney, Barbara Bates, Taylor Holmes, Art Smith, Wally Cassel. Directed by Irving Pichel. Screenplay by Robert Smith. Produced by Mort Briskin. Executive Producers: Harry M. Popkin and Samuel H. Stiefel.
Mickey Rooney is a skirt-chasing auto mechanic who meets brassy blond temptress, Jeanne Cagney (James Cagney's sister) and falls all over himself trying to please her, which includes lying, cheating and stealing. The problem is, Peter Lorre, the owner of a seedy San Francisco carny, has the hots for her, too!
As Rooney's decent girlfriend, Barbara Bates, watches helplessly, Mickey slides deeper and deeper into a quagmire of deception and desire. If you like bad broads and sleazy characters, this one's definitely for you!
